Shanghai University of Finance & Economics
Under the direction of the Ministry of Education, SUFE is one of the leading universities in China that attracts bright students from all over the country and has faculty members who are well achieved scholars of their fields.
The University has 3 main campuses with a total area of 339,781.62 m2. Currently it has 1000 faculty members (among whom there are over 400 professors and associate professors), 8000 undergraduate students, 6000 full-time graduate students and 1000 international students. The university offers a wide range of areas of study by its various schools, including accounting, business administration, finance, economics, law, humanities, etc.
SUFE is undergoing rapid changes and expansions and aims to become a vibrant and active force in education, research, cultural exchange and development in the international community. In recent years, the university has hired over 180 permanent faculty members with PhD from U.S., Canada and European universities, including Harvard, Yale, Berkeley, Oxford, etc. This group is the best in China. In addition, the university has several Chinese scholars holding Deanships, such as: Guoqiang Tian, Jiandong Ju, Neng Wang and Yong Zhou.
School of Economics
The School of Economics at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is nationally renowned for its dedication to excellence in teaching and research. The School offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs in economics in its four departments of Economics, Economic History, Political Economy and Quantitative Economics. It is the intellectual home of 85 faculty members and about 700 undergraduate and 300 graduate students.
With the implementation of a special education reform project called Economics Innovation Platform, jointly funded by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance as well as Shanghai Government, the School is currently in a phase of moving quickly toward the best economics program in China and building up an international academic reputation in economics. During the past few years, the School has recruited over 50 tenured/tenure-track faculty members from renowned universities in the world, such as Yale, Stanford, Upenn, Northwestern, Toronto, etc. In the next three years, we will continue to hire up to 20 faculty members with Ph.D. from top universities in North America and Europe. The faculty have published a large number of high quality papers in peer refereed journals, including Journal of Political Economy, American Economic Review, Econometrica, Review of Economic Studies, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Econometrics, Games and Economic Behavior, etc.
